About

Dave Kramer began building value as a financial executive for small companies over 30 years ago, in Sorrento Valley, an entrepreneurial hub. Since then, he has been a full time Chief Financial Officer from start-up to over $100 million in sales, in high tech, medical devices, and life sciences. He now works as Outsource CFO Services.

Corporate experience

Dave’s corporate CFO positions have included 11 years at Gen-Probe, Inc., a developer, manufacturer and international marketer of diagnostics products, which he helped grow from $5 million to $120 million in sales, from 1990 to 2001. While there, he also served as CFO for a start-up, affiliated therapeutics company. In more recent CFO work, he helped raise $38 million in venture capital for Anadys Pharmaceuticals and helped complete a reverse merger onto the NASDAQ for Somanta Pharmaceuticals. Earlier in his career, Dave held financial executive positions at an electronics start-up and a Fujitsu software subsidiary.

Outsource CFO Services

His assignments have included part time and full time CFO positions for emerging companies in informatics software, cell phone components, biopharma,  SaaS, consumer products, health care IT, electronics manufacturing, alternative energy, biotech specialty chemicals, and professional services.

On a project basis, he has developed business plan financials and provided advisory services for start-ups in internet consumer services, medical devices, internet security, software, green building products, and health care, among others.

These companies have all been privately-held, either investor-funded or internally financed.

Dave is well known for his network of other professionals, whose resources he can bring to his clients, including accounting, tax, legal, banking, HR, IT, insurance, and commercial real estate.

Dave earned a BA with honors from Yale and an MBA from Harvard Business School.  In his spare time, he enjoys swimming and beach volleyball.
